We recommend to wash the shawl as less as possible. If possible do not wash. Wool contains lanolin (animal fat), which works like a natural impregnation, meaning it repels dirt and moisture from fabric surface. Anything made of wool doesn't get dirty as quickly. It'll be enough to simply wipe away
or let it air in the fresh air. If you must wash, then use the wool cycle of your washing machine or preferably by hand with a wool detergent. More about wool maintenance here.

Yak wool even outperformed Merino in independent laboratory testing boasting 40% more warmth, 66% greater air permeability, and 17% greater water vapor permeability than Merino wool fabrics.
